Welcome to The Equestrian App (referred to as "the App" or "the Service"), owned and operated by Smart Barn Technologies, a subsidiary of Extreme Software Inc. ("we," "us," or "our"). We provide an intuitive mobile, web, and content-sharing platform designed to help horse owners, riders, equine businesses, and care teams track horse activities, log veterinary care, and collaborate seamlessly in their horse’s care.
This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, process, share, and protect your personal information and horse-related data, as well as the choices available to you regarding your data. By downloading, accessing, or using our Service, you understand and agree that we collect and process your information as described in this Policy.
2. Information We Collect
We collect several categories of information to verify your identity, deliver location-based app features, and allow you to build profiles and logs for your horses.
A. Information You Provide Directly
- Account Details: When you register an account, we collect your username, password, and email address.
- User Profiles: You may provide additional optional details for your public profile, such as your first and last name, a profile picture, and your phone number. These details help friends and equine professionals locate you on the Service.
- Horse Profiles & Logs: You can create profiles for your horses, including their name, breed, photos, veterinary log events, vaccination schedules, boarding details, and training notes ("Horse Content").
- User Content: Any photos, comments, journal updates, likes, and other materials you share on the Service's community forums.
- Support Communication: Email correspondence and customer support logs when you contact stable support channels.
B. Metadata and Technical Data
- Metadata: Technical data associated with the User Content you share. For example, metadata can describe how, when, and by whom a piece of content was generated, including photo file specifications, time markers, and tags (such as hashtags and mentions).
- Log File Information: Reported automatically by your device whenever you make a request to access pages or features. This includes web request data, IP address, browser information, referring / exit pages, clicking counts, and how you interact with link features.
- Device Identifiers: When you access the Service on a tablet or mobile device, we may monitor, access, and store unique alphanumeric "device identifiers" to verify active subscriptions, authorize sign-ons, and maintain performance benchmarks.
3. Geolocation & GPS Data
The core features of the Ride Tracker within The Equestrian App require precise tracking of your real-time geolocation. We handle your location data with the utmost privacy and care.
Critical Notice: Geolocation & GPS Disclosures
Equestrian Ride Journals: When you start a ride session, the App tracks and records your precise GPS coordinates, even in the background if authorized. This allows us to calculate your ride's route, duration, distance, and speed. These tracking coordinates are stored with your ride journal and are only visible to you and those you explicitly share your horse’s journal with.
Weather Notifications: We also request access to your general location in the background to deliver local weather alerts, such as blanket recommendations (e.g., when temperatures drop to levels that require specific blanketing for your horse's breed and coat).
4. How We Use Information
We process your data strictly to deliver a highly reliable, responsive, and secure platform. Specifically, we use collected information to:
- Help you efficiently access your horse profiles, schedules, and journals after logging in.
- Remember your credentials and preferences so you do not have to re-enter them on subsequent visits.
- Deliver customized features, location-based weather alerts (such as blanketing notifications), and GPS-calculated ride logs.
- Maintain, test, monitor, and improve the performance and stability of our mobile and web platforms.
- Develop, test, and release new features and tools designed for the equine community.
- Analyze aggregate usage and traffic trends to scale infrastructure.
- Diagnose and fix software bugs or database synchronization problems.
- Process premium subscription fees and manage active benefits in conjunction with third-party payment platforms.
6. Storage & Data Security
Your information collected through the Service is stored, hosted, and processed in the United States. We implement commercially reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards designed to keep your personal records and horse logs safe. These measures include requesting unique passwords, verifying sign-ons via social accounts (Apple, Google, Facebook), and utilizing encrypted transport layers for database synchronization.
However, no electronic data storage or transmission system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure. While we strive to protect your personal details, we cannot guarantee the absolute security of any information you transmit, and you acknowledge that you do so at your own risk. You are responsible for keeping your account credentials, passwords, and device access secure at all times.
